Acupuncture for Stress, Anxiety & Chronic Fatigue in Mount Kisco & Midtown NYC
Personalized acupuncture care designed to support relaxation, more restorative sleep, steadier energy, and better daily function.
A Personalized Approach to Stress, Anxiety & Fatigue
Stress, anxious feelings, and persistent fatigue can affect sleep, focus, muscle tension, motivation, and the ability to manage everyday responsibilities. At FCT Family Acupuncture, we look beyond a single symptom and consider your health history, daily routine, sleep patterns, medications, stressors, and wellness goals.
Using fine, sterile, single-use needles, acupuncture may encourage relaxation and support the body’s natural regulatory processes. Care is individualized and may be used alongside medical treatment, counseling, medication, sleep support, and other appropriate services.
Persistent or unexplained fatigue should always be discussed with a healthcare provider so possible underlying causes can be properly evaluated.
How Acupuncture May Support Stress, Anxiety & Fatigue
Traditional Chinese Medicine Perspective
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, stress, restlessness, disrupted sleep, and low energy are understood through patterns affecting the body’s overall balance. Acupuncture points are selected according to each person’s presentation rather than using one standard treatment for everyone.
Contemporary and Evidence-Informed Perspective
Researchers are still exploring how acupuncture affects stress. While some evidence suggests it might help reduce anxiety, the data isn’t definitive yet. Since everyone responds differently, think of acupuncture as a helpful sidekick to your regular medical care, rather than a replacement.
Common Concerns We Support
Stress and fatigue can appear differently from one person to another. During your consultation, we discuss your symptoms, daily patterns, and current medical care to determine whether acupuncture may be appropriate.

Ongoing Stress and Overwhelm
Work, caregiving, major life changes, or prolonged pressure can leave the body feeling constantly “on.” Acupuncture may be included in a broader stress-management plan to encourage relaxation and create time for rest and recovery.

Anxiety and Nervous Tension
Anxiety may involve worry, restlessness, rapid thoughts, irritability, muscle tension, or difficulty settling down. Acupuncture may offer supportive care alongside therapy, medication, and other mental health services when appropriate.

Persistent Fatigue and Low Energy
Fatigue that continues despite rest can affect concentration and everyday function. Because it has many possible causes, medical evaluation is important before supportive care is planned.

Sleep Disruption
Stress and anxiety can make it difficult to fall asleep, stay asleep, or feel refreshed in the morning. Treatment may focus on relaxation and sleep-related symptoms while you address habits or health conditions that may be disrupting rest.

Stress-Related Muscle Tension
Emotional strain may be accompanied by tight shoulders, jaw clenching, neck discomfort, or tension headaches. Acupuncture may help ease muscular tension and support a more comfortable sense of relaxation.

Mental Fatigue and Difficulty Focusing
Poor sleep, prolonged stress, and low energy may contribute to mental fatigue or difficulty concentrating. A personalized plan considers these concerns together with the rest of your health picture rather than treating them in isolation.

Stress, anxiety, and fatigue are personal experiences, and no single protocol is appropriate for everyone. At our Mount Kisco and Midtown Manhattan offices, Dr. Wei Yuan takes time to understand how your symptoms affect your sleep, work, relationships, concentration, and everyday life.
Your plan may include acupuncture points selected for your individual presentation, along with practical recommendations that complement your existing medical or mental health care. Treatment goals are discussed clearly, and your response is reviewed over time.

FAQs
Can acupuncture help with stress and anxiety?
Some patients use acupuncture as complementary support for relaxation and anxiety symptoms. Available research is limited, and individual responses vary. Acupuncture should not be presented as a cure or replacement for professional mental health care.
Can acupuncture help with persistent or chronic fatigue?
Acupuncture may support relaxation, sleep, or other symptoms that can accompany low energy. However, it has not been established as a cure for chronic fatigue. Persistent or worsening fatigue should be medically evaluated because it can have many possible causes.
Is chronic fatigue the same as ME/CFS?
No. Chronic fatigue describes a symptom, while myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome is a specific, complex illness requiring clinical evaluation. Ongoing fatigue should not automatically be assumed to be ME/CFS. Acupuncture cannot diagnose or cure ME/CFS.
Can acupuncture replace therapy or anxiety medication?
No. Acupuncture may complement counseling, medication, and other mental health services, but it should not replace necessary care. Do not stop or change prescribed medication without consulting the healthcare professional who prescribed it.
What happens during my first appointment?
Dr. Wei will review your symptoms, health history, medications, sleep, energy patterns, daily stressors, and treatment goals. Your acupuncture plan will then be personalized according to your presentation, comfort, and existing care.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are very thin, and many patients experience little or no discomfort. You may briefly feel pressure, tingling, warmth, heaviness, or a dull sensation. Tell your practitioner if anything feels uncomfortable.
How many acupuncture sessions will I need?
There is no standard schedule for everyone. The number and frequency of sessions depend on your symptoms, how long they have been present, your overall health, and your response to care. Your plan will be reviewed and adjusted over time.
How quickly might I notice a difference?
Some patients feel more relaxed after an early session, while others need additional time or may notice limited change. Progress may be evaluated through sleep, stress levels, energy, concentration, muscle tension, and everyday function. Results are not guaranteed.
Is acupuncture safe?
Acupuncture generally has a good safety record when performed by a licensed practitioner using sterile, single-use needles. Temporary soreness, bruising, light bleeding, tiredness, or light-headedness may occasionally occur.
Tell your practitioner if you are pregnant, use blood-thinning medication, have a bleeding disorder, recently had surgery, or have a serious medical condition.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Eat a light meal, stay hydrated, and wear loose, comfortable clothing. Bring a list of your medications and relevant medical information. Avoid arriving on an empty stomach.
Does insurance cover acupuncture treatment?
Coverage varies by insurance provider, policy, diagnosis, deductible, and permitted number of visits. FCT Family Acupuncture can help verify your available benefits before treatment. Benefit verification does not guarantee payment by your insurer.
